Instrument Playing

In our house we are drifting to a more traditional lifestyle. I have always been heavily involved with music, as a band member, following bands, tours, etc.. So we are now learnign new instruments, this is part of my familial and religious practice. My grandmothers family hales from Appalachia and my Grandfather from the White Mountains so we are going with traditional instruments of those areas, mandolin and banjo. We are having a ball. I recomend a new instrument to everyone. I used to play flute and congos but this is so wonderful, spiritual and part of my families history...

We have also started gravitating to traditional music, though we don't have as rich a connection as you do. We have my grandma-in-law's old guitar (very sentimental for my husband), a soprano uke, a baritone uke, an autoharp and my husband made a banjo and a thumb piano. The oldest girl gets a fiddle when her grandparents come up soon. I play tin whistle and recorder rather badly as well. Mostly we just goof around but I'd love to get us some actual lessons.
