I am a Sagittarius, born December 7th... and find that the older I get, the more independent I become... I am artistic, love rhythm and blues music, and being one on one with Mother Nature.

My husband is a Sag... I've learned a few things about them!



1) Joint bank accounts aren't necessarily a *good* thing...

2) They are either highly spiritual or completely turned off by religion. (I think mine has gone both ways! He's now deeply in the *off* phase.)

3) They never grow up. Never. Not at all. He's like 3, mentally. I swear.

4) You can't ever be too *clingy* with a Sag. Hard for a Taurus, lemme tell ya! You just have to trust them.

5) They have *no clue* how to read people and are so trusting as to fall for everything and anything at least once. I've had to let him get burned on things a couple of times before he would finally start listening...

6) They're a lot of fun!

...the rest comes from other influences in your chart. The next two major influences are your Rising Sign (also called Ascendent) and your Moon Sign.



Your Rising Sign is the sign that was sitting on the Eastern horizon line at the moment of your birth. It changes every 2 hours or so (depending on how far away from the Equator your place of birth is.)

Your Rising Sign is the first impression you make on others; you wear it like a mask. It shows the way in which you approach the world. It also has some say in how you look and what clothes look best on you. You will often crave "things" that deal with your Ascendent.



Your Moon Sign is the sign that the Moon was sitting in at the moment of your birth, same as how the Sun Sign works. The Moon flips signs every 2 1/2 days.


Your Moon shows your emotional makeup, your needs, how you see your mother, habits formed in childhood, the way you listen and the way you respond, and what kinds of food you like. Men tend to look for women that are like their Moon Sign.



I have a couple of books on astrology. A good technical book is The Astrologer's Handbook by Sakoian & Acker. The coolest one I have is Secrets From A Stargazer's Notebook by Kempton-Smith. When she started out by describing the houses on a chart as slices of pizza, I laughed my ass off! :-P It's a good read!

That chart's way off if it tried to tell you that you're a Cancer - that's two signs away from yours!

August 27th is deep in Virgo territory (even with the way that the exact date changes each year!)



Natal charts are inexpensive (as long as you don't pay for some 50-page computer-generated interpretation!) - I got mine for $6 at my old work. That's just the chart, though. It looks strange until you learn how to read it.



The only thing wrong with those computer interpretations is that the 'puter doesn't know how to read the different aspects *together*. Best to get a book and read it for yourself! I listed my favorite already... :-)

There's always something that doesn't seem to fit. When you see a chart, things tend to start making sense.



But now here's the big question: Is it that you don't act like an Aries, or is it that you don't want to admit that you act like an Aries?!?

Lol! It's actually a valid question - for instance, most Taurus folk won't admit to being stubborn. They adamantly (and stubbornly) insist that they are not stubborn at all!



Sometimes the other parts of your chart will water down certain aspects of your character, or make it so that things only come out in certain circumstances. Sometimes you'll have something placed in such a way that it completely overrides the other aspect.



***That's what I like about looking into charts & stuff like that. When I was going through mine, I got indignantly angry at what it was able to show - how DARE the chart know these things!!! (I suppose it's that Scorpio Rising - it doesn't like to be "read" like that! Heehee!)***

no i really dont act like a aries..what ppl. say and what i read about aries is totally differnt from what i am..it's weird..b/c i usually dont act like it...i think theres sumthing wrong with me..hehehe

...'cause I bet you have a lot of planets in one sign, or you have your Moon and Rising in the same sign, or some other configuration that gives another sign a lot of influence in your chart and makes you act more like that sign instead of your Sun.



Or maybe you're just weird - I dunno... :-P

hehe..i think i am just weird..atho i dont know.. how do i find out my sun and moon and stuff signs??

It's cheap - usually less than 10 bucks (as long as you don't go in for all the "special" stuff - you don't need asteroids (though they're kinda cool to look up if you're so inclined), you don't need any comparisons - no compatibility charts, no Solar/Lunar/etc returns, no astro*cartography, and you don't really need the ol' computer explanation if you pick up a good book on the subject. (The computer doesn't always know how to mix the info together - it will give you a general interpretation on everything there and tell you nothing about how they all interact together. You learn more from looking up your own chart anyway.)



You need to know your exact time of birth to get an accurate chart. You also need to know exactly where you were born and you need to be prepared to give them the name of the closest major city. They need to accurately pinpoint the location so they can give the computer the exact longitude & lattitude of your birthplace - it makes a big difference in where the stars are.



Charts can also be done by hand - a good astrologer can prepare one for you in a couple of days. There are a lot of books that say you can set up a chart by following just a few easy steps. If it takes a professional astrologer several days to do one by hand - looking up planetary positions in their ephemerises, figuring out the degrees and the many things that come from them - you can bet that a chart done in 10 minutes from some beginner's book isn't going to have anything close to that same degree of accuracy. Most astrologers just use a computer program nowadays - why spend a couple of days on a chart when you can have it printed out in 5 minutes?



Wait 'till you see your chart - it'll look like Greek to you at first!

Your Sun Sign is the sign that the Sun was sitting in at the moment you were born. The signs come from the "Zodiac Belt" - a series of constellations that follow each other and basically line up one after another in the sky. This ring of constellations encircles the globe. They divide up pretty neatly into 12 "houses", or areas of the sky that the particular constellation sits in. They are said to "rule" these areas of the sky.



The Sun will sit in each sign's area for roughly 30 days or so. When I say it "sits" I mean that, from our vantage point here on Earth, when we look at the sky the Sun is seen in a particular area of the sky that belongs to one of the constellations. If the Sun was not shining (and blocking out the view of other stars), you would see the constellation right up there with the Sun. For the span of time that the Sun is in this area, we say that the Sun is "ruled" by this sign.



The Sun is the biggest influence on our planet anywhere in space - there would be no life without it - so it is recognized that the sign the Sun is sitting in is the predominant sign of that time period. It is the one that has the greatest influence at that time. So, those who are born during the period that the Sun sits in a particular sign are said to be "of that sign". That is your Sun Sign.

and one of the only ones that really discuss this matter (at least, in layman's terms), people who have 5 or more planets below the horizon line on the chart (the line that runs across, straight through the middle, represents the horizon as if you were looking South at the moment of your birth - East is left, South is up, West is right and North is down) are subjective types. (Those with 5 or more above the horizon line are worldly types.) Her exact words are:

"When the chips are down, your own feelings and personal integrity are more important to you than to be seen in the hot spots every night. You have a whole world of wealth inside yourself and a lot to give other people. Too much stuff below the horizon may mean that you allow your feelings and eccentricities to swamp you, at the expense of what the real world thinks - and requires. Learn to play the world game and be thankful that inside you are so rich."

Hi ya!!! I'll have to look into reading that book. Hmmmmmm. :puzzled: Does this mean I'm in my own world??? :D ;) Well, I guess that works for me. :) But it might not help me none when I go to college to become a natural doctor (hope they don't care about spelling in college because I'm terrible at it). I want to start up a spa like thing that has all of your new age cures and other unconvetional cures like massage, herbal, acupuncture, ect. I think it would be way cool, and I could help alot of people once people come around to to this kind of healing. And that's my dream and I'm sticken to it!!! :) (making fun of a country song "That's my Story and I'm Sticken to It"). Well, things to do, and things to plan.

If you get a good astrology book, you can interpret it for yourself. This will have the side effect of teaching you the basics of chart reading, so you can then look at your friends' and relatives' charts and say, "oh, so that's why they're so screwed up!!!" HaHA! }:-)
