Testing

Testing the forum to see how it works. I think it'll be rather interesting.

Okay, let's see if I'm getting this right. This should appear under here, on the front page......if not I'll see what happens. :)

Comments don't appear on the front page, just on whatever page they're left on. If the original post appears on the front page, the new comment will be noted. I'm going to be futzing with what appears on the front page to make things less confusing. I hope.

well, I like it so far. You're right, Grammy, it does offer a lot more in terms of what you can do.

Look at the bottom of the page: You'll see a form for changing the way you view the forum. The default is "flat expanded," which is the most like the old forum; the other options are:

Flat collapsed: Shows the comments to posts in the order they were made, not threaded, just the subjects (clickable links to read more)

Threaded collapsed: Shows the comments in a threaded manner (which allows you to see who responded to which comment), just the subjects

Threaded expanded: Shows the comments organized in threads, with the entire comment appearing

Once you set this preference it stays set for you. Or at least it should, let me know if it doesn't.

Can a shrine area be added? Thanks!

I might even be able to add a formal module to the site separate from the forum; let me work on it a little.

Grandmother Spider, why am I getting frames still? I have a frame on the left just like the old site, only it has nothing in it. I can use the arrows to make it narrower, but it is still there. ~ Mugwort

Extremely weird. You shouldn't be. Hmm. Anyone else getting a frames? Not that I doubt you, Mugwort, I just need an idea of the scale of the problem.

GS: I posted on the old site about how I fixed my problem, but thought maybe I should post my solution on the new site too in case anyone else is having the same problem.

I started thinking maybe it was my computer that was the problem. Maybe it was dragging the frames over from the old site. So I deleted all my cookies. Then instead of going back to the old site and clicking on the link there and maybe picking it up again, I wrote the new addie on a piece of paper then hand typed it in. Then I got here that way. When I got here it had no frames and I book marked it so I wouldn't have to get here through the old site. And here it is day two with no frames. :)

Okay, another suggestion to add in there: threading.

When I'm reading a post, I get just that post and nothing else. If I want to read the next post, I have to go back, click on the link to that message, read it, go back again.......

I would like the option to just go from one message to the next.

How are you getting to the forum posts? You should be given threading automatically within a post and its comments. If you mean that once you've finished reading all the comments for a post you have to go back to the main forum page to see the next topic, you can use the "New in the GSSW Forum" box to the left to skip to the next active topic.

Oh wait! I understand what you're saying. Underneath the comment links you'll see the control panel; choose an "expanded" option and you'll see all the comments at once, just like in the old forum. (Hm, I thought I had "expanded" set as the default, I'll go change that.) The software will remember what you choose so you only have to set it once (as long as you're logged in).

Will you be placing your Moon Phases on the site again? I liked that one!:-)

I'm trying to figure out where to put the moon and sabbat info--whether they should go in a box or at the top of the main page or on their own page or what. What do you guys think?

But they will be back!

Will you be putting in a link to the membership list that we can all see?

I can do that right away; the default of the module that does this displays email addresses, though. How do you guys feel about that? And can we move this conversation out of the testing area? :)

I don't have a problem with that. Some of us are in touch by email anyway. ;)
