Out of practice Wiccan looking for help.Submitted by Army Kid on Fri, 08/05/2005 - 12:20pm.
Howdy folks! I have been Wiccan for the last 8 years and regretfully confess I haven't practiced the belief for approx. 3 of them. Now I come to the table in need of assistence and (gulp) help. My fiance' has a brother who for as long as he can remember has been "haunted" by visions and dreams influenced by a being that (from my understanding) calls itself "Archaos" (Ark-a-o-is). Politics of Fire & ForestsSubmitted by Mugwort on Sun, 05/09/2004 - 5:05pm.
This weekend I took a hike deep within the Kalmiopsis Wilderness where the huge Biscuit Fire raged two years ago. The weather was beautiful, the scenery surreal at times. The Wilderness area is now a mosaic, a patchwork of stands of trees that are black and leafless, alternating with stands of green trees lush and full of life. At first there seemed little rhyme or reason for the survival or death of the stands of trees. ( categories: Ecology )
PhenologySubmitted by Mugwort on Thu, 04/01/2004 - 7:51pm.
I just love going for walks this time of year. All the wild flowers beckon me to go off the beaten track and be attentive to the lessons the plants bring. And it becomes clear as I hike about, that the spring wildflowers are like a parade, a succession of blooms whose timing depends on the subtly of weather, a play of temperatures and rainfall or lack of it. One week certain species are blooming and the next week a different mix of flowers are blooming. It is an ever changing keleidoscope of color and form. Each walk holds surprises for the person who slows down enough to be attentive. ( categories: Ecology )
*Sigh*Submitted by Schuylar on Mon, 02/16/2004 - 11:12am.
I heard this morning that the state I live in is going to destroy 12 million ash trees in an effort to contain the Emeral Ash Borer. This astonishing number of trees stole my breath, then my mind was staggered that they were doing this in order to save the other estimated 700 million ash trees in the state. ( categories: Ecology )
